The Importance of Arizona Law

Introduction The creation of a powerful and properly evidenced argument is not an easy thing. There are a number of issues to be taken into consideration and certain opinions to be evaluated. However, when the nation undergoes certain legal changes, many people are ready to share their personal opinions and ideas about the steps taken. The question of illegal immigration and its role in the development of Arizona society plays an important role for a long period of time.Advertising We will write a custom essay sample on The Importance of Arizona Law specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More Usually, people want to be in safe and feel protection of their government; still, they are not always ready to accept the legal changes offered. One of the latest reforms taken by the government and critically accepted by society was Arizona S.B. 1070. In fact, this legislative Act is considered to be one of the strictest anti-illegal immigration issue s in the state of Arizona as well as in the history of the United States of America. In this paper, the ideas of two different authors will be thoroughly analyzed: Roger Mahony, a famous American cardinal, whose thoughts and activities are supported by millions of people, and Kris Kobach, one of the principle drafters of the Act under consideration. Mahony’s â€Å"Thank You, Arizona!† is an attempt to describe the measure taken as a â€Å"mean-spirited and useless† measure that deprives people of a chance to be free and to be equal in society (Mahony 17). And though Kobach’s â€Å"Defending Arizona† introduces absolutely another point of view, this article should not be regarded as an opposition to Mahony’s work. The two authors share their opinions about the reform taken and try to persuade the reader. Mahony makes use of religion as a powerful weapon to achieve the required justice and protect immigrants from unfair judgments. And Kobach h elps to analyze the worth of Arizona S.B. 1070 admitting that many people’s â€Å"charges are completely false† and lead to â€Å"a vastly disproportionate response† (Kobach 31) . Kobach and Mahony are the writers, those words may be interpreted in a variety of ways; they are not only helpful and influential in the world of politics and religion, but they established the key points according to which governmental activities may be properly evaluated. Summary/Analysis To understand those ideas may play more crucial role in understanding of the worth of Arizona S.B. 1070, it is necessary to analyze each article and the approaches preferred by the authors. Kris Kobach is the drafter of the Act, so, his opinion and explanations of this governmental change should be thoughtful and properly organized. At the beginning of his article, the author admits that many political leaders â€Å"from President Obama on down† jumped into criticizing the law without its tho rough analysis. The point is that some opponents, such as Eric Holder and Janet Napolitano, say that they have not read the whole text of the law, still, they are ready to argue the importance of the reform.Advertising Looking for essay on history? Personal opinion should not be the main claim to rely on while arguing the activities of the state Governor. â€Å"Defending Arizona† is Kobach’s chance to explain why so many misunderstandings take place around the law offered. He identifies three charges which are wrong and give clarifications. The point is that the law does not introduce as many influential changes as people actually think. The main claim of the article is not to make fast decisions and find more time and analyze the law from a variety of perspectives to understand that Ar izona officers are provided with appropriate instructions to follow during the contact with illegal immigrants, racial profiling does not become a crucial point, and certain order of immigrants’ documentation is important. Kobach’s supportive facts are powerful indeed: he takes some extras from the law to prove that people’s judgments do not have any grounds, he remembers real-life examples such as â€Å"Gonzales v. City of Peoria† case, and he clearly explains the role of documentation provisions in this particular reform. The tone chosen in this article is persuasive, not hostile. It helps to explain the reader that the author is not satisfied with the conclusions made by some people and is ready to point out the mistakes and give informative explanations. His evidence is his personal experience and desire to create appropriate living conditions for the citizens of Arizona. Still, the creation of appropriate living conditions may be interpreted in a var iety of ways, and one of them is introduced in the article by Roger Mahony. A crucial aspect of this work is the attention to religion. The main claim of the article makes many readers realize that Arizona S.B. 1070 is a successful decision for the citizens of Arizona as it is defined by Kobach. What he suggests is to comprehend the importance to consider immigrants â€Å"no longer as strangers or statistics, but to see and hear them as real, flesh-and-blood human beings – neighbors, family members, whose lives are adversely affected every day that our leaders fail to enact just and fair immigration reform† (Mahony 18). On the one hand, this claim has clear humanistic evidence where God’s role and impact play an important role. People should be kind to each other and do not use the idea of citizenship as the main criteria for human separation. Attention to the Bible and the necessity to hear the stranger may be regarded as an influential factor.Advertising We will write a custom essay sample on The Importance of Arizona Law specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More Still, it is necessary to admit that not all people are ready to live in accordance with the rules identified in the Bible. So, on the other hand, people’s attitude to the role of the Bible and the ideas supported by a particular religion should not influence the political sphere of life. It is wrong to combine religious and political aspects to create one comprehensive law. What Mahony offers is to consider the Catholic community as one of the main issues to human justice. The point is that the immigrant experience is familiar to the vast majority of people: we are immigrants in society, religion, education, etc. And a properly organized opinion about immigration reform should be â€Å"a matter of justice† as well as â€Å"a part of our identity, of what we are as a church† (Mahony 19). Mahony uses rather convinc ing tone in the article. He does not want to provide people with any other choice but the one he supports. And his thoughts and devotion to religion are the main factors of his argument. Response Though the question of illegal immigration did not touch me personally, I cannot neglect the impact of this reform on human lives. The articles chosen for the analysis in this paper help to comprehend how it is easy to create inappropriate judgments and follow them in life. I found the both articles rather interesting and educative for many people. Kobach and Mahony make a decision to consider the same issue from absolutely different perspectives. If Kobach rely on his personal experience as the drafter of the Act and analyze thoroughly misunderstandings which take place around the issue taking into account different aspects of the, Mahony fails to consider various opinions but choose his religion as the only correct point. It is hard for people, who are far from some religious beliefs, to understand Mahony’s desire to unite politics and religion. This is why I want to say that I have more common grounds with the author of the article â€Å"Defending Arizona†, Kris Kobach. First, this writer does not rely a lot on his personal understanding of the reform but uses the facts. Second, he analyzes what has been already said and explains why the conclusions made should be regarded as false. And, finally, he does not want to convince the reader to accept one particular side but be able to evaluate all ideas discussed in the Act. Certain information in the article turns out to be new. For example, it is interesting to know that some leaders are ready to make conclusion without having clear grounds and reading the law itself. Such attitude to the case can explain why some people are not able to comprehend true essence of the reform offered.Advertising Looking for essay on history? Let's see if we can help you! Get your first paper with 15% OFF Learn More This is why the preferred article by Kobach makes me think about many things and understand that each law and reform offered should not be judged superficially. I like the way Kobach introduces facts in his work. Though I cannot say that I dislike the way chosen by Mahony, still, I would like to admit that his approach is less understandable for me and does not correspond to my ideas to rely on clear facts. Works Cited Kobach, Kris, W. â€Å"Defending Arizona.† National Review 62.10 (2010): 31-33. Mahony, Roger. â€Å"Thank You, Arizona!† America 202.19 (2010): 17-19. Americas First Bioterrorism Attack essays

Americas First Bioterrorism Attack essays This is madness! Whats happened to the world? Is everyone gone insane? In a matter of way, this is what happens when you involve yourself in others business, like U.S. does all the freaking time. I dont know if there is one single war theyve missed, Im pretty sure theyve been in almost all the wars and conflict all over the world. I cant understand why they care to involve them self in all of these wars? Maybe they dont want to be left behind? I think this big conflict between America an Osama Bin Laden is in a way kind of childish. Especially this biological warfare they are having now. I really think its silly, and not to forget cowardly! Youre not a real man if you cant meet your enemy face-to-face! While the physical spread of anthrax has thus far proven fairly limited, the dissemination of its psychic by-product, fear, has been all too successful. In the U.S., a new round of threats continues to test the countrys nerves. Im glad Im not living in America right now. That cant be very fun right now, with all these threats hanging over their heads. The specter of the microscopic spores has sent hundreds of thousands rushing to their doctors offices and pharmacies, begging for prophylactic antibiotics. Thirteen people are now confirmed to have either been exposed to anthrax or to actually have the disease. Time, 16.10-01 ...

The impact of E-business on information management in the Essay

The impact of E-business on information management in the telecommunications industry - Essay Example These developments raise a number of new challenges for information management. This research proposal seeks to identify recent trends in the telecommunications industry with a focus group being the mobile device and networks of major companies such as Motorola, Nokia and Sprint based on their United Kingdom business activities. The research will also seek to interview at least three telecommunications industry workers to gauge the relationship between perceptions within the industry's e-commerce and statistical evidence derived from historical data research. This paper will analyse several recent business and technological trends in the information communication technology industry and their consequences for performance analysis, using mobile communication businesses as the test group. The fundamental reason for choosing this topic is that having searched literature I found that very few works have been conducted concerning the impact of information management and E-business within the telecommunications industry in U.K. Since most of the studies have been focusing the International market. This fact has encouraged me to do this piece of work in order to contribute to the existing knowledge about this subject by adding a new point of view. Last two decades have seen multi-fold progress in the use of Internet (USIC and IITA, 2000). Nua Internet Surveys have reported an increment in the number of Internet users globally, statistics state the users are increased in all regions of the world from 171 million in 1999 to 304 million in March 2000, an increase of 78 percent (USIC and IITA, 2000). The accessibility of the consumers to different products and services has also been increased. In order to respond to the changing needs of the customers businesses are also applying new techniques to capture a vast market, (Ram et. al., 1999). In a paper Entrust (2001) has mentioned following trends, which are transforming the Telecommunication industry all over the world: "The evolution of digital technology is enabling the convergence of all forms of information - email, video, audio, graphics and text - that must be communicated. The Internet has become a key communications medium and it has facilitated society's evolution as a global

NEGOTIATION SKILLS Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words

NEGOTIATION SKILLS - Essay Example This brief analysis will work to address three main questions with regards to negotiation. They are as follows: 1) Describing and offering advice regarding the three main points of the â€Å"Getting To Yes† model of negotiation 2) comparison and contrast of distributive/competitive vs integrative/interest based bargaining 3) Discussion of the win-lose/win-win nature of negotiations and the influence that perception and expectations have on both parties involved. As such, this brief analysis will attempt to lay out, as best as possible, a type of rubric that will help an individual to handle negotiations in an informed and thoughtful manner. With respect to the three points of advice that were gleaned from the book Getting to Yes Negotiating Agreement Without Giving In, the authors note that the three most powerful tools towards achieving a successful negation hinge on the following: 1) separating the people from the problem 2) focusing on the interests not the position 3) inve nting options for mutual gain. Oftentimes in situations where disagreements/contentions/negotiations are taking place, it is extraordinarily easy to immediately denote a problem, an idea, or a given point of view to an individual or group of individuals. In this way, the actual problem comes no closer to resolution as groups involved have ascribed uniquely personal attributes to each of the perspectives. As such, the individual hang ups that a person or group of people may have with relation to another individual or group acts as the main impediment towards achieving an environment amenable to successful resolution2. In this way, the problem itself (or obstacles) is minimized as the personalities that espouse the given view are maximized. Such actions make it difficult if not impossible to work towards a resolution. In this way, it is the role of the negotiator to seek, at all costs and at all times, understanding of the issues rather than working to ascribe them to a given group or individual. The second point centers around the fact that the negotiator must place emphasis on seeking to define the interests of the respective group and not the problem. Although this can be understood a multitude of different ways, perhaps the best way to understand it is that the focus should be placed on the positive and not the negative. In such a way, rather than immediately coming to agreement that a central negative exists, the group can focus positive and constructive energies on defining and further developing the respective interests that guide the positions that are at hand. Lastly, how it is framed is oftentimes half the battle. In a situation where a difficult issue seeks resolution, a redistribution of focus in a way that works to maximize mutual gain is oftentimes one of the most efficient ways towards bringing parties together on points of agreement. Although this is a very basic concept, it is one that is lost on many negotiations as individuals involved develop a type of tunnel vision on their desired results with little thought as to small tokens of peace offerings that could coax the other side to relinquish some ground on a given item or set of points. With respect to comparing and contrasting distributive/competitive versus integrative/interest based bargaining, these primarily differ with respect to the item that is being discussed. For instance, as the name implies, distributive bargaining is often

Compare and contrast shopping online with shopping in actual shops Essay Example for Free

Compare and contrast shopping online with shopping in actual shops Essay ?Compare and contrast shopping online with shopping in actual shops In current society, shopping has been a big part of peoples’ lives and it is becoming more and more popular. However, nowadays, science technology is more developed and more modern than before. Therefore, a lot of people are choosing online shopping. Between conventional shopping and online shopping, there are some advantages and disadvantages. Some people think shopping on the internet is suitable for the main reason that it is convenient. For example, if you are the businessman, you will be busier than others. So, you do not have enough time to go shopping. But online shopping can help them to save time and let them get their needs and wants. Secondly, when you want to go shopping, the weather is often quite bad. Other advantage of online shopping is you can stay at home and look for many different products on the internet. Finally, people need not go shopping in shopping malls or stores. This can reduce the number of cars on the road, whilst it also protects our environment to reduce air pollution from gas. Moreover, people will not be worried about the problem of a parking space. On the other side, online shopping has some disadvantages. On the one hand, people can buy some fake products which will waste their money. On the other hand, some bad quality products can potentially damage people’s health such as food or medicine. Others give their different ideas, they prefer conventional shopping. In the first place, we can directly contact products easily which can avoid buying some useless and wrong items. In the second place, we can meet different people and make friends when you purchase a product. Conventional shopping is good for people’s social life. Finally, we can bargain with people in stores and can get some cheaper and better items. But we can not ignore that conventional shopping has some disadvantages. The first reason, sometimes, you choose favourite shoes, but the store does not have your size. And then, you use the internet to go shopping, you can find the same one and it is suitable. The other reason, it is a waste of your time and money. Because you not only need to pay for the store, but also product taxes, car fares or buying bus tickets. In my opinion, online shopping is suitable for me. Because I am a student, it can save time and I also have more choice to cater for my needs. The most important aspect is the price which is usually cheaper than conventional shopping.

neighbors :: essays research papers

Has jealously ever made you take action in ways that you wouldn’t normally? Have you ever wondered what it would be like to live in someone else’s shoes? If given the opportunity, would you step into his or her daily lifestyle? In the short story â€Å"Neighbors† by Raymond Carver, a young couple proves that the parasite of a trait, known as jealously, rarely has a happy ending.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Jealously by definition is a resentful, suspicious, envious feeling of the mind. This is exactly what forced the Millers to act uncivilized when given the capability to befall into the seeming less better life of someone else. Ashamed of their jealousy, the couple kept it a secret and began lying to each other. Evidently, the Millers became obsessed in becoming someone else.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Bill Miller wanted to experience life in a more extravagant environment. He went through the everyday tasks that his next-door neighbors, the Stones, would perform. Many of these things he wouldn’t normally do; for example, Bill stole from the Stones’ apartment in order to make him feel superior. He even became so empowered by the life of his neighbors that he began to lose track of time. Jealousy influenced Bill to metamorphosis into somebody else.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Arlene Miller’s jealousy also made her feel resentful towards her wealthy neighbors. She wished to have the same opportunities her friends seemed to have. As time passed, Arlene also had the itch to snoop into the secrets of their neighbor’s home. She found exactly what she was searching for, something to prove that the Stones’ didn’t live the perfect life. Ironically, due to her discovery and jealousy the unbelievable fell upon her. She realized she was locked out of her neighbor’s apartment.
